instaweek 2: rainy days

1. RAIN
It's been quite a gloomy week here. All I want to do most days is stay in bed and sleep or read a book with a bowl of soup or a hot cup of coffee.

2. AIR MAIL
I received a lovely letter from my pen pal Linn. I haven't gotten 'round to sending her the letter I've written in response to hers. It's so nice to read letters actually written by hand. It's wonderful to know that the person who wrote to you took the time to make one.

3. LAZY SATURDAYS
I seem to be enjoying time at home lately. Having Saturdays to rest and catch up on some books is something I might start doing on a regular basis. Writing down some words and learning more chords on the uke is always a fun thing to do too.

4. GLOOMY SKY AND DORMANT TREE

5. FRIED GOODNESS
My FRYday treat to myself for finishing another work week. Fried oreos with ice cream. yumm!

instaweek 1: words

Recently, I've been putting a lot of text on my photos on Instagram. Here's a compilation of my photos this week. check out my other Instagram pictures here.

1. Free as a bird- This was my first attempt at writing on a photo. I had to repeat the word several times because my finger was so big haha. I might just go out and look for a pen that I can use to write on my phone. I seem to have so many pictures of the sky so I decided to use it as a background.

2. Macarons- I have developed a love for these little things. They are starting to become my once in a while treat. They were Nutella and red velvet flavor. They. were. lovely. Not the smoothest I've tasted. but good nonetheless. One day, I will learn how to make some. I may just blog about it too!

3. Coffee talks- It's nice to have some time to talk with friends.

4. A Good Saturday Morning- This morning started off really well. The sun was shining and everything was quiet. It reminded me of one of my favorite verses. Lamentations 3:22-23 and this is what came out of some early morning chats with God.

This concludes my first instaweek post! I will try to update every Saturday.

unplanned

Today, my friend Dewa ,who I happen to work with, asked me if I wanted to go out and have some milk tea after work. Of course, I agreed. We don't really get to talk when we are working. Just quick hellos and goodbyes, as well as short conversations after class while cleaning up and preparing for the next day.

Taking a break once in a while and talking helps. We seemed to have a routine. Even if our dates are always unplanned, the things that happen when we do go out almost always ends up the same. It started off with some milk tea and some dinner. Then on to some good conversation. I'm grateful to have such a great co worker who I'm proud to call my friend.

Having people who will help you, just be there to talk things out, to laugh with, cry with, or think you're not insane when you have mental conversations with your sandwich is something to treasure.

All in all, I do believe today was a great day.

Life happens offline

In this day and age. It is almost impossible to live without a mobile phone. I lost my phone last Sunday and at first I felt like it was the end of the world. No more instagram, twitter, facebook, or any form of social media wherever I go. The thoughts going through my head were always things like "How can I take pictures of things now?" or "How will I post it?"

I hadn't realized how dependent I was on my phone and how addicted to the internet I was. those 7 days taught me a lot about the things I had neglected for several months now.

These are some things I learned living life without a smart phone:

1.INTERNET IS NOT EVERYTHING
I realized I spent so many hours of my time online. Having a phone that has internet doesn't help either. You think those peeks every five minutes are harmless. Looking for updates hoping something new happens, when in fact nothing does. (Yes, this actually happens to me) I am slowly weaning myself off of the internet. I know, I know, you're thinking. nah. She can't do it. Baby steps people. baby steps.

2. INSPIRATION IS EVERYWHERE
You become much more aware of your surroundings. Seeing true beauty with no distraction is a wonderful thing. I realized there is more to life than just my phone. Which seemed to be where I was living in for a while now. Sometimes you just have to force yourself to stop, look up, and breathe.

3. SOCIAL NETWORKING IN REAL LFE
I actually started neglecting the people around me. People would start complaining that I would spend too much time on my phone and not have a normal conversation with them. I think proper conversations should be ones with no distractions and given full attention to. Instead of posting my thoughts on twitter or facebook, I actually started talking to people about my day or how things were to someone close by.

4. READING
I was able to pick up a book and start reading again, which I hadn't done in a long time. I always said I had no time to read. Now I realize, there is time, I just never made some.

5. WRITING, SINGING, MAKING
I had more time to draw, write, and make things. I didn't think I could ever be able to work and do small things that I love on the side. Turns out. I can.

Ready to pop!

Last Saturday I was invited to a baby shower. It was a celebration for Cristiano Andres who will be out soon! hehe I can't wait to meet him!

Good times were had, as games were played and an enormous amount of junk food was consumed. I was fortunate enough to be part of decorating during the joyous event. It turned out to be a wonderful day!

Props to Kaki who put the whole thing together. :)

Here are some pictures:

These were the hot air balloons I made

Sugar cookies to fit the theme

Game time! Who can finish what's in the bottle fastest?

Of course, a group picture to end the day!

There's something in the water.

Temporary tattoos
pull-ups
inside out s'mores
water
sun

Seems like it's turning into a Tuck-ins tradition. Extending summer. We went swimming last Sunday. It was such a good way to relax and spend time with some great people.

Quote of the day:
"Oh yeah, Well I'm not!" ( I seem to always hear Jimm's voice when I read that phrase)

All in all, a great day! More soon!

Bringing out the brush

I was asked to make a picture for someone with those words written on it. So, today, I did nothing but paint. I'm getting back my love for art. It's keeping me calm, and inspiring me to experiment with different color combinations and ideas. The fun part is thinking of different ideas for a picture. Here's what I have so far.
